The newest book of Nadezhda Marinchevska Animation Hybrids was published
Thursday, 04 June, 2015
Prof. Nadezhda Marinchevska published a new book.
Animation Hybrids (Titra Publishing house) treats the mixing of styles, genres and film codes in new screen forms, an essential trait of contemporary film processes. Animation is the most versatile creative form of the new century, pervading both feature and documentary film. The study focuses on the changes in cinematic language occurring as a result of this hybridism in the digital era. The book suggests new aspects of the ‘real-fantastic’ correlation in film, addressing the issue of the ‘documentary animation’ as a new type of presentation of true facts.

Prof. Nadezhda Marinchevska is Deputy Director of the Institute of Art Studies, Bulgarian Academy of Science; a long-standing lecturer at NATFA. Books: Bulgarian Animation Film 1915–1995 (2001); Frames of Imagination. Aesthetics of Animation Techniques (2005); received the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers’ Award ‘2006 and the Bulgarian Film Academy’s Award ‘2014 for film criticism.
