A new book by Ingeborg Bratoeva-Darakchieva, European Cinema: Globally and Locally

Prof. Ingeborg Bratoeva-Darakchieva published her second book. Is it possible to define the specifics of European film in the era of globalisation? How is the issue of European identity discussed on screen? What is the impact of globalisation on film production patterns in Europe? These are some of the most significant issues the book brings up. Possible answers are sought in studying the cinematographic processes of the two last decades in movies by leading European directors such as Wim Wenders, Michael Haneke, Lars von Trier, Pedro Almodóvar, Neil Jordan, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Fatih Akın, Danis Tanović, Cristian Mungiu, etc. Combining theoretical reasoning about cultural globalisation with analyses of certain works, most of which are familiar to Bulgarian audiences, the book offers original insights into contemporary European film.
